Smoke removal can be a tricky thing. We do not do restoration work so if your house suffered a fire you need to locate a restoration company who specializes in this sort of thing. We do remove cigarette smoke and other foul odors. The main thing that you have to remember is you must remove the smell of the source, for example, if you have a dead rat in your vents you are not going to be able to eliminate the smell unless you remove the rat, or if you smoke, and continue to do this in the house, you will not be able to eliminate the smell.
The most common smell we encounter is cigarette smoke. This type of smoke can penetrate the walls, furniture, drapes, etc. and the longer you smoke in the house the more it will penetrate your belongings, and of course if you have smoked in your house for 20 or 30 years it will be harder to remove the smell, you might have to paint the walls, clean the drapes, etc.
With this being said we have two different machines that we rent. One is an ozone machine, which is very effective at eliminating foul smells, the problem with this machine is you have to vacate your house before you can use this machine. This machine changes the molecular structure of the air, converting the oxygen to ozone, ozone is a form of oxygen, one that is toxic to humans, pets, plants, etc. it kills everything, so you will have to leave your premises for approximately 1 to 2 days depending how bad the smell is. This machine works miracles, and after the machine has finished eliminating the smell you can return to your house in about 20 minutes and you don’t have to worry about breathing any toxic fumes. We open the windows after the smell is eliminated and this clears out the ozone and puts oxygen back in the residence, so there is no need to worry about the ozone still being in the air. The foul smell is gone and you can return to your house.
The other machine we have is called a vapor shark, it is also very effective in eliminating odors. This machine works by using vapor sticks, kind of like perfume or cologne, where it circulates the air in the house through the machine eliminating the foul smells and making your house smell new again. The nice thing about this machine is you can continue living in your residence while the machine does it’s job. This machine is non toxic to humans, pets, plants, etc. and is very effective at permanently eliminating smells. You will need to use this machine for 1-2 days depending on how severe the smell is.
